Privacy Policy
The short version: this website collects no personal data, sets no tracking cookies, and shows no advertising.
1. Who we are
Castles of Denmark (castles-denmark.world) is an independent, non-commercial information website about six historic castle-museums of Denmark. This policy explains how the site handles information, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. What we collect
We do not collect, store or process any personal data about visitors through this website. Specifically:
- No registration, accounts or newsletters.
- No analytics, statistics or tracking scripts.
- No advertising and no advertising networks.
- No third-party social media trackers or embedded pixels.
- No selling, sharing or transfer of data — because none is collected.
3. The feedback form
The feedback form does not send anything to a server. When you submit it, your browser opens your own email program with a draft message addressed to us. You remain in full control and decide whether to send it. If you do write to us, we receive only what you choose to include (for example your name, email address and message), and we use it solely to read and reply to your enquiry. We keep such correspondence only as long as needed to deal with it, and do not use it for any other purpose.
4. Cookies and local storage
This site uses a single technical item stored in your browser's local storage to remember whether you have dismissed the cookie notice. It contains no personal data and is not used for tracking. Full details are in the Cookie Policy.
5. Hosting and server logs
The site is served by a third-party hosting provider. Like virtually all web servers, the host may automatically record technical access logs (such as IP address, date and time, and the page requested) for security and to keep the service running. Any such processing is carried out by the hosting provider as part of delivering the website, on the basis of legitimate interest in operating a secure service. We do not combine these logs with any other data or use them to identify individuals.
6. External links
Each castle page links to official websites and to image sources on Wikimedia Commons. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we do not control. We recommend reading them when you visit.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection regarding your personal data, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Denmark, Datatilsynet). Because we hold no personal data beyond any email you voluntarily send us, these rights mainly apply to that correspondence. To exercise them, write to [email protected].
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new "last updated" date.
